काॅर्बेट पार्क में कैंटीन बंद होने से सरकार को लाखों रुपए के राजस्व का नुकसान हो रहा है।
स्थानीय लोग भी रोजगार से वंचित हैं। काॅर्बेट पार्क आने वाले पर्यटकों के लिए पहले पर्यटन जोन में कैंटीनों की व्यवस्था थी। यह कैंटीन ढिकाला, गैरल, बिजरानी, झिरना, ढेला जोन में थे। पर्यटकों के लिए इन जगहों पर चाय-नाश्ते की व्यवस्था थी। काॅर्बेट प्रशासन हर साल टेंडर के जरिए स्थानीय लोगों को यह कैंटीन एक या दो साल तक चलाने के लिए देता था। इससे सरकार को 50 लाख रुपए की सलाना आय होती थी। कैंटीन चलने से लोगों को रोजगार मिलता था।
लेकिन अचानक काॅर्बेट के पूर्व के अधिकारियों ने यह कैंटीन बंद करा दी। पिछले दस सालों से यह कैंटीन बन्द हैं। अब इन कैंटीनों को कुमाऊं मंडल विकास निगम को संचालन करने के लिए दे दिया गया है। बीते एक अक्टूबर को रामनगर आए सीएम त्रिवेंद्र सिंह रावत से भी लोगों ने कैंटीन शुरू कराने की मांग की थी। सीएम ने पार्क निदेशक राहुल से इस बारे में जानकारी ली थी। उनका कहना था कैंटीन शुरू होने से सरकार को राजस्व मिलेगा। उधर काॅर्बेट पार्क के वार्डन आरके तिवारी ने बताया कि कैंटीनों को लेकर अभी कोई निर्णय नहीं लिया गया है। इस पर जल्द कोई निर्णय ले लिया जाएगा।
